Late-Breaking Submission Guidelines

In general, news programs interrupt regular programming to break important stories. Such events may be political, military, or natural disasters such as tornadoes and hurricanes. Until 24-hour news networks existed, the interruption of regular programming was usually reserved for highly significant events such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, or for urgent news, such as the death of a celebrity.

Research that is rapidly advancing and whose results will be available after the abstract submission deadline is eligible for a late-breaking submission. However, the presenting authors of these submissions must adhere to the late-breaking guidelines below, and the abstract must have a “placeholder” (not final) abstract submitted by the initial abstract deadline.

The late-breaking abstracts are NOT a second deadline extension; rather, they are a special category for high impact clinical science. Submissions are reviewed on the basis of originality and innovation, significance/relevance, and methodological soundness.

A limited number of late-breaking abstracts will be selected for oral presentation in one of the late-breaking sessions at WCN2023. Accepted late-breaking scientific abstracts will be presented as paper posters or ePosters. Presenting authors of accepted late-breaking scientific abstracts are required to complete a financial disclosure and registration by Tuesday, June 17. Poster printing, travel/hotel accommodations and fees are the responsibility of the presenting author.
